Monday, April 16th
Lesson Plans for this week are posted.
We finished up the end of our "group projects" last week for Health classes. Test scores were not as good as I had hoped. In each of the 3 classes that did group projects instead of standard classroom learning test scores fell significantly.
This week we start studying Chapter 23 "Chronic Diseases and Disabilities".
PE classes will be having a Physical Fitness week.
Hope everyone enjoyed the rainy weekend. Sure limited time spent outside, but it was still a much needed soak.
Have a good one!

Monday, Feb. 13th
Lesson Plans for this week are up and on the internet.
First day back in school for me in what feels like forever. I was home with sick children last Wednesday and Thursday, and had an appointment on Friday that I had made weeks ago. So it's been almost a week!
Lucky for me, I had all my grades up to date so all I have to do is play catch-up... but still, 3 days is alot of work to catch up on.
Let's see... News and Notes.
1. Parent Teacher Conferences - Conferences will be held this Thursday, February 16th from 2:30 to 8:30 pm.
2. No School Friday - Friday will be a no school day, after conferences.
3. No School Monday - President's Day
4. Conferences Drawing - I'm not real certain about this myself... I'm not one of the planners, but I know that each MS teacher was given some money from the PTA to use to buy a gift. Each student whose parent/guardian attends conferences gets their student's name put in a drawing, and then that teacher will draw who wins the prizes from their "pool".
Good Luck to the Cubs JH Basketball team as they play at St. Joes tonight.
Caught a pretty good portion of the Grammy Awards last night. I really enjoyed the show for the most part. Some pretty good performances from Bruno Mars, Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift (yes, Taylor Swift! She was awesome... I can't believe I'm saying that), Adele, and Jennifer Hudson did a great tribute to Whitney Houston. That was really a fun show to watch.

Good Morning Everyone, hope you had a safe and happy Super Bowl Sunday.
Congratulations to the New York Giants for winning another classic Super Bowl last night. I was cheering for the Giants, but only because I can't bring myself to cheer for the Patriots.
Lesson Plans for this week are posted.
Busy week coming up... Health Students will be starting Chapter 21 on Infectious Diseases, and PE classes will be having a Physical Fitness week. We'll even break out the Heart Rate Monitors this week.
Personal Fitness students will be having their first test of the semester, which is over the first four assignments.
Congrats to the Chamberlain 3rd Grade Boys Youth Basketball squad for going 3-0 in the Sully Buttes Basketball Tournament this past weekend.
Good Luck to the Cubs JH Boys Basketball team today, as they host Lyman.
(Take it easy on the ref!)

Monday, Jan. 30th
Lesson Plans for this week are up and online.
Health students are preparing for their Chapter 10 Test today. There is also an online study guide, that they may take as many times as they want to prepare for the test. Test will be held this coming Wednesday.
Personal Fitness class will be weighing in and fitness testing today.
Good Luck to the Cubs MS basketball team as they take on Winner today.
Had an extremely busy weekend this weekend, and was unable to get out and run. I need to make time for this. I didn't have alot of time, but I could have gotten something done, instead of nothing.

Late Start Monday
Late start at school today, because of the icy road conditions.
Be safe out there! It's wet, and slick, and with the temperature where it is, doesn't look like it's going to improve much in the next few days. Let's hope the road crews do a good job and keep the roads safe for everyone!
Lesson Plans for this week are done.
Health classes today, with shortened periods. We will be reading section 2 of the textbook, and having class discussions on the material. Todays topic is "Keeping Your Digestive System Healthy".
Personal Fitness will have our weekly weigh in, and fitness test. Today, we will be testing out on maximum bench press.
Good Luck to the Lady Cubs as the travel to Kimball tonight in Girls Basketball action.
No School this coming Friday for staff development.

Friday, Lesson, Weekend
Welcome to a cold January Friday!
Lesson plans for next week are posted.
Congratulations to the Cubs Boys Basketball Team for their win over Todd County last night.
Also, congrats to the SDSU Jackrabbits for their big win over the USD Coyotes last night.
Full weekend of events coming up... CHS Wrestlers, Gymnasts, Boys Basketball and Girls Basketball are all in action this Saturday. Best wishes to all the Cubs teams!
Also, a good luck shout out to the Cubs JH Boys Basketball team as they travel to Winner to play in the Winner Tournament.
Saturday is a big Basketball day in our house, as not only do both kids team's play, but also the UNC Tar Heels, The SDSU jacks mens and womens teams, and the LA Lakers all play!
This weekend will also be the NFL Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Sunday I have my first 10 mile run scheduled for the new year. Could be tough. I've only gone 8 miles once, so I may be dragging a little.
For the weekend video, my younger boys have had me listening to "The Rocky Story" CD in the van the last few days, so I've got Rocky tunes on the brain.
Enjoy Robert Tepper's "No Easy Way Out"

Friday, January 6th
Today in MS/JH PE class we will be having an "ICU Day". Which means that we will have some sort of fun PE game or activity for all students who are caught up on their work.
Students who are not caught up on their work, or are on "the list" will have study hall and be forced to work on any and all missing work.
High School Personal fitness class will be playing a game today, but it depends on the weather as to what that is. I'd planned on doing "fitness relays" in the wrestling room, but it is so nice outside lately, that we may scrap that plan and do something to take advantage of the beautiful weather. It's not often you can have outdoor PE in January.
Congrats to the Lady Cubs for their victory over Crow Creek last night. The win moves the Lady Cubs to 6-1 on the season.
Good Luck to both the Lady Cubs, and the Cubs Boys Basketball team as they travel to Cheyenne-Eagle Butte for a double header game tomorrow.
Lesson Plans for next week are completed and posted.
This Weekend the South Dakota State Jackrabbits Men and Women's Basketball teams will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on Oral Roberts University. Oral Roberts was the preseason favorite to win the conference in both divisions. At this point in the season the Men are tied with SDSU with a perfect 5-0 conference record, and the SDSU women are actually a game ahead of the ORU women.
Go Big. Go Blue. Go Jacks.
Also, this weekend marks the Wild card round of the NFL playoffs. For the second straight year, my San Diego Chargers have missed the playoffs. So while that is disappointing, it allows me to watch the games and just enjoy them with no real emotional attachments to any teams. Sometimes, as a fan of a sport I think that is almost better.
Today's music video is from: The Twilight Singers. First time I heard this band was last summer, and I was up later than normal and caught their performance on David Letterman. Excellent Song.
(And no, they have nothing to do with the Twilight movies)
Enjoy.... "On The Corner"

Second Semester Starts tomorrow, January 4th.
Staff are back at school today, for a teacher workday, preparing for the start of Second Semester.
For anyone who is a newcomer to my classroom blog, I use this as a kind of "online bulletin board" where I post what's going on that day, upcoming tests, etc, etc.

Friday, Dec. 2nd
Well, got to see the elementary school concert last night.
Really enjoyed their version of "the nutcracker".
Lesson Plans for next week are done.
Feeling a bit like a "poser" this morning, because I was unable to get out for a run yesterday. When I arrived home my in-laws had just arrived as they were attending the Elementary Christmas Concert. So, I had to stay and visit with them. So my first run will be today. I have to remember the working man's running motto: "sometimes life gets in the way".
Has anyone else out there tried Google Music yet? Pretty neat. Google allows you to upload all the music you have on your computer to their "cloud" and you can keep it there forever... for free. When I started uploading it told me it had room for 12,000 songs, so it's a pretty neat deal.
The idea of cloud computing is really catching on.
Weekend Plans
Well, I'm going for a run tonight, and plan on attending the girls basketball red/white scrimmage.
Nothing major planned for Saturday, probably a run and hang Christmas lights on the house.
Sunday will be family time, and yeah I'll probably try to get a run in.
This week's video is from... Vampire Weekend.
Enjoy A-Punk
