Friday- Lessons, Weekend, Announcements, Video

Today is the last day of the first quarter.  Monday we will begin the second quarter of the school year.

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held next Thursday, October 27th from 2:30 to 8:30 pm.

No School on Friday, October 28th.

Lesson Plans for next week are done and posted online.

Good Luck to the Chamberlain Cubs Cross Country Team as they leave today to run at the State CC Meet in Sioux Falls tomorrow.  We are all very proud of you, no matter how the state meet goes, you've already accomplished so much this season.

Run Hard, Run Fast, Run Strong

In other weekend events, my South Dakota State Jackrabbits will be hosting the #3 ranked NDSU Bison in Brookings on Saturday.  The Bison have a very strong team this year, destroying the Big 10 Conference's Minnesota Golden Gophers already this year.  I'm just hoping the Jacks play well, could be a tough game.

Halloween is right around the corner, I should probably change my "slideshow" to Halloween from Autumn, but I think I'll wait until Monday to change it.

For this week's video, I am keeping with the Cross Country theme for another week.

Enjoy Slade's "Run, Runaway".

Friday notes and Weekend

Next Week's Lesson Plans are done.

Monday's Health classes will be having a test over Chapter 5, except for 7th hour.
7th hour is having an assembly on Monday.  They will have the test Wednesday, and probably make up Health Day on Friday.

The River City Band Festival is this weekend in Chamberlain.

This year's festival will be featuring The Pride of the Dakotas marching band.
As a SDSU alum, I always enjoy seeing "The Pride" perform, so I think it's pretty cool that they are coming to perform in my town.  If you've never seen them, you are in for a treat.

Speaking of SDSU, the Jackrabbits football team is traveling to Youngstown, Ohio this weekend to take on the Youngstown State Penguins.  Traditionally a football power the Penguins have fallen on bad luck the past few years.  This years team looks to be improved though, and it will be another tough test for the Jacks, who have lost 4 consecutive weeks.

In a move for "reverse mojo", I will not be putting up the SDSU logo this week.  Maybe that will get them back on the winning streak.

This week's video is Peter Gabriel's "The Book of Love".
I'm choosing the "Scrubs" version, because first of all I love that show, and second of all because it's just so darn touching.  If that video doesn't make you mist up a bit, either you never watched Scrubs, or you're slightly dead inside. (I kid.)

Besides, I think Peter Gabriel could sing the phone book and I'd probably listen to it.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Homecoming Friday!

Hope everyone has a great homecoming weekend!

Good Luck to the Cubs tonight as they battle the Platte/Geddes/etc.../etc... team.

Early dismissal today for the parade.

Lesson Plans for next week are done.

Not alot on my plate this weekend.  The SDSU Jackrabbits return home after a 3 week trip of doom that saw them lose 3 times, have their starting quarterback quit the team, and several players get injured.  I hope they can pick it up versus a very talented Indiana State team.

Little Known Fact:  Indiana State is the alma mater of one Larry Bird
Yes, that Larry Bird was a Sycamore.

Question:  Why would you name your school mascot after a tree?
Makes no sense to me.

Go Big. Go Blue. Go Jacks.

For the Friday video of the week, I thought I'd go with something new, something catchy, something that will have you singing it an hour later.

Enjoy:   Young The Giant.
